2007-2009 Contracts |
|
The legislature completed the ratification of our 2007-2009 Collective Bargaining Agreements and Govenor Doyle has signed them. According to the Compensation Bureau, the contracts will be implemented in pay period 14, which runs June 8 to June 21, and any lump-sum payments will be included in the July 3 paycheck.
Bargaining teams worked long hours for several months, away from their families and their jobs, negotiating in good faith, with knowledge and experience, to reach this an agreement together as a Union to benefit all. Take an opportunity to thank them for their dedicated efforts. Contact a 1914 officier or steward or our field representative for team member contact information.
Every two years, The Wisconsin State Employees Union negotiates a new contract with the State of Wisconsin. The agreement states what wages, benefits, rights, and responsibilities we have, and what rights and responsibilities management has. Both the union and the state are obliged to obey this agreement. You must sign a green membership card to vote. If you are in the Administrative Support Unit and were hired after October 5, 2001, you pay monthly membership dues. However, if you have not signed the green membership card, you are not eligible to vote. The AS unit is the largest group of state employees and continues to bring increased strength to the bargaining table. Simply contact an officier or executive board member for a green membership card to allow you to vote on future agreements when formally presented to the Membership.

ABOUT LOCAL 1914 |
|
Local 1914 represents all non-academic employees of the University of Wisconsin at Eau Claire, Wisconsin and state employees in Eau Claire, Chippewa, Rusk, Clark and Taylor counties, except those employees in the jurisdiction of other AFSCME local unions who are eligible for membership in this local union. Approximately 300 workers are represented by Local 1914 in Administrative Support, Blue Collar, Technical, and Security and Public Safety classifications. We negotiate wages, hours, working conditions, and represent people who have a grievance with management.
We are a democratically run membership organization. Monthly meetings are held on the third Wednesday of each month, 5:30 p.m. at the Labor Temple Lounge, 2233 Birch Street, Eau Claire WI. The best way to ensure that the union represents your views is to become a member and participate in meetings. That’s where issues are voted on and decisions are made.

HOW TO CONTACT A STEWARD? |
|
Tell your supervisor that you want to meet with your steward "about a possible grievance." Stewards are trained in the contract, and will be able to give your problem the attention it needs. Your supervisor doesn’t have the right to ask you why, and must set up a private meeting in a timely manner on work time (In paid status). Ideally, and whenever possible, these meetings should be scheduled for the next day after the request is made when both employees are scheduled to work. However, it is understood that this is not always possible due to real operational needs. If your supervisor tells you to set up the meeting yourself, says no steward is available, call a Local 1914 officer or executive board member and we will trouble-shoot the problem. Also contact one of these people with address changes, membership problems, and general questions or if you're not sure where to go for help. | | |
